Our store was established in 1962, when bagels were novelties. It was the first bagel store on the South Shore of Long Island. The founder, who came from a generation of bakers, brought his recipe of bagels from Eastern Europe. And even though there was only a small variety at the time, customers were lining up out the door, anxious to taste those hot, crispy bagels spreading aroma around the neighborhood . 

 Today Bagel Plaza has fifty six different bagels, bialys, Challahs and rolls made from scratch every single day. Any time you stop by there is always something hot waiting to come out. We carry a full line of smoked fish as well as an upscale delicatessen with fourteen flavored cream cheeses and twenty one different salads, with many choices for our health conscious customers. We slice nova lox as thin as you can get in the finest New York City stores. Nothing can beat the delicious, creamy taste of our whitefish salad or our signature poached salmon salad. And if you really want to fancy those taste buds select anyone of the twenty-eight gourmet muffins and scones. The variety of food we serve is always growing. You can even order French toast, blintzes, latkes, knishes, French crêpes and much more. From the North Shore to the South Shore, from Westchester to Montauk all our customers say one thing: "It's worth the ride."

 So why is Bagel Plaza so different from all other bagel stores?

Everything we sell is made on the premises using the finest ingredients and no preservatives. From our bagels, bialys, callahs rolls, ruggulah and other baked goods to our delicious salads and cream cheeses. We do not cut corners in anything we do, whether it is day-to-day business or a special catering affair. The Bagel Plaza staff is trained to give our customers royal service. For our fortieth anniversary we did a huge renovation. We wanted to bring the store's appearance up to the Twenty First Century standards. At Bagel Plaza we are happy to be a part of the Merrick community. We support all local schools, religious organizations and charities. Bagel Plaza has also been a proud sponsor of the Merrick Little League for eleven seasons.
